Founder + CO-OWNER
Gina Horkey is a married, millennial mama from Minnesota. Additionally, she’s the founder of Horkey HandBook and loves helping others find or become a kickass virtual assistant. Gina’s background includes making a living as a professional writer, an online business marketing consultant and a decade of experience in the financial services industry.
As the CTO, Daryn actually started as a freelance writing course participant before joining Horkey HandBook in late 2016. In 2017 Daryn co-founded our VA Leads Community with Gina. Currently his primary roles include strategy, member support, SEO and content strategy. With 20+ years of small business experience, his passion lies in digital marketing, and working with other entrepreneurs.
Community + Blog Manager
Laura manages the VA Leads Community, the blog and does a ton of other things for Horkey HandBook behind the curtain! She’s also an alum of both 30 Days or Less courses (VA and freelance writing!). She started off as a writer and branched out into building her VA business focusing on executive management and content creation. Laura is in love with her life in Northern California taking care of horses and being full-time single mom to her daughter.
CUSTOMER SUCCESS SPECIALIST
Davi helps manage Horkey HandBook’s customer service and is an experienced Customer Success Specialist. She’s also an alum of both 30 Days or Less to VA Success and Email Management for VAs. Having a background in healthcare, technical support and working for SaaS companies, she’s busy building her own VA business with a focus on customer service and administrative support for small business owners.
CoMMUNITY OUTREACH + Pinterest
In addition to being Gina’s sister, Amy is also a Registered Nurse (super close to being a Nurse Practitioner, in fact!) and has been hugely helpful in learning the ins and outs of Horkey HandBook to keep our dear founder sane and focused! Amy has 3 kids, a dog and an aspiring entrepreneur husband. If she had free time between work, family and school, she would… she doesn’t know! She’s been too busy, too long!
Co-Owner + Podcast Manager
Wade has put up with Gina for going on 20 years. He’s also been behind-the-scenes for this entire crazy business-building journey! In addition to serving as a huge motivation and support to Gina, he’s done one helluva job on the homefront raising the Horkey kiddos. Also, did we mention he’s pretty handy? And handsome? What a winning combo! Lastly, Wade is going to be managing the company’s podcast, including appearing as co-host!
SoCial Media Manager
Marcie manages our social media and is directly responsible for our LinkedIn and YouTube accounts. She’s an alum of both 30 Days or Less to Virtual Assistant Success and Become a Pinterest VA TODAY! Marcie loves helping others succeed and has a background as a small business owner, writer and marketer. She is currently writing a historical fiction novel, running Simply Lavender Farm and expanding her skill set as a VA and Freelance Writer.
SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER
Zack runs Horkey HandBook’s Twitter account and Facebook fan page. He’s also an alum of 30 Days or Less to Virtual Assistant Success. Zack has a background in public relations and art, and is currently building his own VA business. He has been living in Mexico for over a year with his wife and their two dogs. In his free time, you can find him exploring the landscape, reading fiction or eating spicy foods.
